About the Millennium Collectors

It is difficult to describe another specific, single event...and the celebrations that have surrounded it...that for a period of time captured the attention of the world population as did the entering of the new Millennium. One thing for certain, no living human being will ever experience it again! Add to this the "hype" and the unpredictability of the computer world's Y2K relationship, and the event is even more fascinating. Celebrating the Millennium, whether it is technically 2000 or 2001, seems of little significance to the general public. (Most people would like to simply end the debate and celebrate it twice!) Regardless, as the clocks and calendars turned from Dec 31, 1999 to Jan 1, 2000, the world celebrated! Officially, 24 hours of celebrations revved up the spirits of the world population as the clocks turned to midnight, marching around the 24 time zones of our planet. Whether in Sidney or Moscow or Cairo or Paris or London or Rio de Janeiro or New York City or the hundreds of thousands of public & private celebrations in between, it was thrilling. In addition to personally experiencing the Millennium...and watching the world's population join in... it has provided a great new collecting area! It is projected that thousands of different items were produced to honor the Millennium or help us celebrate it and remember it. Considering the event was truly worldwide, no one can accurately project how many millennium momentoes have been produced in different countries. Because it is worldwide, not only has the event created a new collecting area, but makes it instantly a worldwide collecting area! The Internet will help us greatly as we attempt to document the Millennium collectibles and assist collectors in comparing their acquisitions, regardless of where they may live! One of the major features of the Millennium Collectors website will be to describe many of the types of memorabilia associated with the event. Membership in Millennium Collectors costs $5/year and will help to continue monitoring the world's output of Millennium collectibles and bringing information on them to the collecting audience. It will also provide means for members to dialog with one another and to offer provisions for member advertising. Collectors joining Millennium Collectors prior to the end of September 2000 will be considered charter members. Membership certificates are also available as described on the membership application form.
